Mandarin/Pastel Art Tutor Sessions with Phoenix Chiu

Hi! My Chinese name is Li-Feng. You can call me Phoenix. I am a native Mandarin (Chinese) speaker from Taiwan. In 1988, I graduated from Ming Chuan College and my major was International Trade. I worked as a bilingual sales secretary in import and export companies for several years. In 1999, I received my B.A.degree in Applied English, from the first American-accredited University in Asia, Ming Chuan University, in Taiwan.

I have four years of experience tutoring young kids and adults in Taiwan. Since 2012,I have also been tutoring Americans. I will relates English (your first language) to Chinese (the language you are learning), which makes learning the lessons very easy to understand and connect how you speak English to learn and speak Chinese.

Besides Mandarin (Chinese) tutoring, I also love drawing. I am a professional pastel artist, and offer tutoring in Art. I am the author and illustrator of many children's stories in World Journal Chinese Newspaper. I am also the author and illustrator of children's book The Lost Sea Cat. My pastels are uniquely realistic, using bright colors to catch the viewer's eye, from landscape and floral, to domestic pets. My work has been exhibited in many local juried art shows successfully.

I'm friendly and patient. If you don't understand something, I can simplify it until you get it. I can teach the classes(Applied Chinese,Basic Business Chinese and Pastel Art) over the internet using Skype. I was hesitant at first about learning through Skype but it is like anything else you just have to be consistent and diligent. Skype is effective and so is Li-Feng. We are learning at an acceptable pace.

2) What equipment do I need to have a tutor lesson with Phoenix via Skpye?
Skype has over 160 million users worldwide and is a fantastic piece of free software that allows you to make phone calls and video-conference calls through your computer.  I wish to have as many interactions with my students as possible therefore, I believe with a Webcam, Microphone and Headphone set up, students can listen to the pronunciation and see my tone gestures and read my lips as I teach.
